The Songs
of Conscience website is an ongoing forum
for exploring the intersection of songwriting,
traditional music and social action. We invite
you to join our mailing list. The list will
give us an opportunity to alert you of new
additions to this site, such as new "short
shelf life songs," interviews and essays
about the topics of interest here, and time-sensitive
news such as upcoming performances and other
events. The list will
generally not duplicate
what goes out through my Devachan
Music list. Nor will I subject you to
pass-throughs of the general action
lists and e-newsletters many of us are already
receiving. That is, if you care enough about
social issues to sign up here, you probably
don't
need me to tell you about the latest email
from Moveon.org.
About
Our List Management: We manage our lists
using Topica,
a list management system that handles lots
of administrative details like new subscribers,
unsubscribing, changing your email address,
and bounces. It also helps us gather some additional
information like interest preferences so that
we can target emails to your interests and
annoy you less.
Important
Note: If you sign up on our list, your
email addresses will never be
shared with or sold to a third party, and
emails will never be sent out with
publically displayed recipient lists. Topica
has no access to the lists maintained by
its customers. (And its servers are probably
far more secure than my own home computer!
However, for Songs of Conscience subscribers,
be aware that you never know what the O
f f i c e of H om e l a n d S e c u r i
t y is up to...!)
Topica
recommends that its list manager customers
(like me) use an "opt-in/confirmation" protocol,
so we know every person on our list
has explicitly chosen to be on the
list. If you're a new visitor, we welcome you
to join our list. Simply click on the link
below and you will be taken to a sign-up page.
Topica should then send you a confirmation
email to which you must reply
in order to be added to the list. When you
confirm, it would be helpful to us if you
would take a minute to update
your optional profile, so we know your location
(this list will now be global rather than local,
so this will be important!), and interest areas.
You can always unsubscribe at any time.
